HDFC Bank opens 50th branch in Coimbatore district

Coimbatore, April 25, 2022: HDFC Bank is celebrating a new milestone in Tamil Nadu. The bank opened its 50th branch in the Coimbatore district today.

The milestone 50th branch is located in Coimbatore, Raja Street – Opposite to Municipal Corporation. The branch was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Retail Branch Banking Head – South, HDFC Bank, along with Mr. Ramachandran Kandan, Circle Head – Coimbatore, HDFC Bank. The bank is planning to add 7 more branches.

The bank now has 413 branches spread over 151 cities/towns covering all 38 districts of Tamil Nadu. This is complemented by a network of 1504 ATMs and 196 Cash Deposit Machines.

The bank's journey in Coimbatore district began on May 10th, 2000, when it opened its first branch at Trichy Road Classic Towers in Coimbatore city. Since then, the bank has been growing its presence across the state through a combination of branches/ATMS/CDMs and digital channels. This is reinforced further through a network of 475 banking correspondents and 3,800 village level entrepreneurs helping the bank reach the remote parts of the state. This has been the key to the bank acquiring over three million customers in Tamil Nadu and gaining the largest share by value among all private sector banks in Coimbatore.

Commenting on the bank's growing distribution network in Tamil Nādu, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Retail Branch Banking Head – South, said: “This new branch reaffirms HDFC Bank's commitment to both the district and state. We plan to expand further across Tamil Nadu and make our quality banking products and services accessible in the remotest parts of the state.”

The bank's total business in Coimbatore District was at Rs 16,427 crore at the end of December 31, 2021, comprising Rs 9,821.40 crore of advances and Rs 6,605.60 crore of deposits. The credit deposit ratio in the district was at 148 per cent.

HDFC Bank has substantial exposure to the textile, manufacturing and MSME sectors in the district through its advances. Coimbatore has a large concentration of such industries.
