HDFC Bank adopts 20 Government Schools in Mirzapur
under Smart School Program

  • Partners with Ambuja Cement, initiative to benefit over 9,000 students


Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), October 29, 2022: HDFC Bank, under its flagship CSR programme Parivartan, today announced it has adopted 20 Government Schools in the Mirzapur district of  Uttar Pradesh under the Bank’s Smart School program. This initiative will benefit over 9,000 students across the district. The Bank has partnered with Ambuja Cement Foundation to implement this initiative.


The objective of the Smart School program is to bring modern learning experience in government schools located in rural areas. The Bank’s interventions as part of the program will be inside as well as outside the classrooms, improving the overall learning experience in schools.


As part of the Smart School program, the bank will establish following facilities in the schools:


  • Smart classrooms
  • Library
  • Science Lab
  • Potable drinking water facilities
  • Toilets Renovation / Construction

The Smart School program is aimed towards creating a conducive environment for students to learn, while enabling teachers to adopt efficient teaching methods,” said Mr. Manish Tandon, Circle Head – Varanasi, HDFC Bank.


HDFC Bank is the amongst the largest corporate CSR spenders in the country. The bank’s key focus areas include care for climate, rural development, education, skill development, healthcare & hygiene, and financial literacy under Parivartan.


So far, the bank has set up 23 Smart Classes and 35 Science Labs in government schools in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The Bank’s ongoing educational initiatives have impacted more than 77.9 lakh students in the state.
